ABSTRACT | Pervasive computing and communication resources in a given environment have been utilized to facilitate the deployment of applications, with a goal to improve quality of lives of people, for almost 20 years. In the future, sustaining natural resources, improving environmental quality, public health and sustainable communities will be focus areas. In this context, it will be imperative to incorporate pervasive things into computing. In this talk, we will explore challenges and issues associated with the integration of physical things into pervasive computing. A discussion on composing services in pervasive environments integrated with things will follow.

Dr Mohan Kumar is professor in computer science at Rochester Institute of Technology, USA. Kumar’s research interests are in pervasive and mobile computing and parallel and distributed computing.
